Six Ridiculously Chic Workwear Picks From The Rejina Pyo Sale
Plus an absolute steal of a blazer from The Outnet.
First of all, I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s subscribed in the past 24 hours. I’m super excited to share plenty more workwear ‘content’ with you – and if you like what you read, please do spread the word. Going forward, I’m thinking I’ll send out a newsletter every Sunday evening (and I’m going to do my utmost best to stick to that). That way you can peruse a bunch of gorgeous clothes ahead of the work week, which I thought might be a nice salve for the Sunday Scaries.
That said, this second edit comes – rather unexpectedly – just one day after the first. I actually had something entirely different lined up for Sunday, but as I was trawling through the Rejina Pyo archive sale yesterday I knew I had to change tack – especially given the best pieces are selling out fast. Rejina Pyo is a pretty established name now on the London womenswear scene, but for those who aren’t familiar with the brand, it’s known for its super-contemporary, oftentimes playful silhouettes that still feel wearable, tasteful and timeless. Yesterday, a link to the sale landed in my inbox and, long story short, there’s some really really good stuff in there that I don’t want people to miss.
No need for a huge preamble here. Essentially, I’ve trawled through it all and picked out what I think are the chicest, most office-appropriate pieces (although there is plenty more that’s worth casting your eye over). Let me know in the comments what you most like the look of – and if you end up making a purchase, please send me a pic!
The Oona Trenchcoat
RRP: £750 (on sale for £375)
Coat weather is almost over but those big investment pieces are always best bought in the off season, when they’re half the price. A trench is always a safe bet – although I tend to believe that when it comes to the classics, the less conventional the better. (I also like my coats as long as possible, too – certainly well past the knee – as it just looks more editorial and expensive.) This one is pretty special, thanks to the supersized collar, the low neckline and the voluminous sleeves. And I’d follow the stylist’s lead by tying the belt rather than fastening it properly (far more effortless).
The Camille Shirt
RRP: £395 (on sale for £158)
Personally, I’d love to see more people in the corporate world embrace colour and print for the office. This shirt, for example, is the sort of piece that’ll instantly liven up a suit, put a spring in your step on a rubbish day and earn you lots of compliments to boot. Because the pattern has some neutral tones woven through it, it’s not quite as intimidating as stepping out in a solid orange. And I adore the size of the collar too, as well as the fact it’s made from an environmentally friendly Tencel.
The Simone Jacket
RRP: £550 (on sale for £275)
I feel like this jacket neatly sums up what Rejina Pyo does best. It’s packed with quirky details – the mismatched buttons, the shoulder pads, the kimono-style belt. However, the overall effect is somehow supremely elegant. The burgundy can be balanced out with lighter neutrals in summer, but it will look especially show-stopping in autumn-winter. I think this might just be my favourite of the lot.
The Kora Shirt
RRP: £425 (on sale for £170)
I’m in a bit of a chocolate-brown phase at the moment – spurred in part by a beautiful Rejina Pyo halterneck that I bought (hugely discounted, of course) in autumn last year. Unsurprisingly this shirt caught my eye, as much for its colour as its details. Again it comes with the mismatched buttons, which I’m a big fan of, and the sleeves are just the right length. And come the weekend, you can layer it over a T-shirt or tank top and style it with cargos or jeans.
The Miller Blouse
RRP: £425 (on sale for £213)
The asymmetrical neckline, the chunky gold-tone hardware, the ruched detailing on the side – there’s so much to love about this blouse. That said, I hesitated to include it at first as these sorts of baggier silhouettes can be hard to pull off without looking… frumpy. I feel like the trick here is that the trousers have to be perfect – I’d still go for a fairly generous leg but I’d make sure they’re super sharp and ideally altered to fit just right. And I’d also style it with a high heel (your highest!) just to balance out the proportions a bit more.
The Reine Trousers
RRP: £395 (on sale for £198)
I own a couple pairs of trousers in this sort of sage-green hue and find them incredibly wearable – they work with white blouses, stripy blue Oxford shirts, brown boots, navy jackets etc. It’s a million miles more interesting than picking a neutral, but without looking like you’ve tried. What sets these apart for me is the pleats – and I love how they zip up on the side which gives you this clean, crisp look from the front. They’re also very close to selling out, so if you’ve been on the hunt for something similar, then snap them up before you regret it.
As someone who worked on and off for YNAP over the years and had access to that famous discount, I’ve strangely never actually bought anything from The Outnet. Oftentimes I found that the (very expensive) things that I wanted weren’t reduced enough to persuade me to purchase – or they were sold out in my size. However, there are definitely some gems to uncover, and I seem to have stumbled upon one in this chocolate-brown wrap blazer from Loulou Studio for £123 (plus an extra 15% off if you make your first purchase on the app). It’s an interesting but understated alternative to the classic work jacket and would look especially chic layered over a simple white blouse and a white wide-leg trouser for summer.
Wholeheartedly agree on the Simone jacket. It's sublime!
